Welcome to the beautiful Similkameen Valley

Meet Bradley James
It was fitting when Bradley ventured into the world of wine making and grape growing. Brad has always had an affinity for all things analog- from his old, rigid, carbureted motorcycle, to preferring a manual coffee grinder, to the old Willmes grape press that he covets. He lives by a philosophy of working a little harder, and reaping the grande reward.
In the winery Brad enjoys working alone, but when extra hands are needed, he revels in the bonding time of working with his father and the wisdom he brings to the trials and tribulations of the task at hand.
Brad devotes himself by imparting all of his efforts into the small details. He is present from sow to sip, with his hands in the dirt planting the first vines, to pruning throughout the winter and season until it reaches its harvest peak. He takes delicate care in the processing steps, and makes sure to keep the case production smaller and more manageable for himself to be able to pay attention at every step, and preserve the quality of the grapes within every bottle.

Our Story
The name Hugging Tree was inspired by two entangled trees. The trees seemed to embody the spirit of the family and the winery; to be connected – connected to the land, to the vines and to each other. But It’s more than the name that keeps the old and the new properties tied together. The first new vineyard was planted with cuttings from the original vines. And so the story of connection goes deeper, and continues.
